Dr. Ajay Prabhakar worked as Country Program Coordinator with the United Nations for almost two decades, working on projects related to education, poverty eradication, youth empowerment, arts and culture, and climate change.

Until recently, Ajay was Country Programs Coordinator for UNCCD, working with partners across West Africa, East Africa, North America, Europe and East Asia to implement projects focused on land conservation, rural livelihoods, food security and biodiversity conservation. His responsibilities included program design and implementation, resource mobilisation, coordination, monitoring and evaluation, stakeholder engagement, and advocacy.

His work included leading and managing projects worth USD 630 million, supporting governance reform initiatives and youth livelihood opportunities. These programmes focused on capacity building and youth economic development through training and consultations with small-scale industry and skills providers. Through the use of technology, the programmes helped young people find employment and start their own ventures.

He also worked closely with the Presidency of Nigeria, contributing to national policies and programmes and to strategy formulation through the Office of the Senior Special Adviser to the President, Professor Catherine Acholonu. He also contributed to the drafting of Nigeria's information technology policy.

Dr. Ajay Prabhakar has worked to rethink education through innovative pedagogy, skills development, technology and real-world learning. He coined and developed VSTREAM — Values, Science, Technology, Research, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics — as an interdisciplinary approach to education, alongside a broader skill-incubation framework designed to develop capable, adaptable and creative learners. His work evolved from the Innovative Pedagogies Project into Pioneers Nation, combining career experiences, 21st-century skills, AI-powered learning and whole-person development, and later extended into Transform LXP, an AI-powered learning experience platform connecting people, ideas and technology.

Across his career, Dr. Ajay Prabhakar has worked with governments, institutions, organisations and leaders on challenges involving change, technology, capability and organisational development.

This experience has informed his approach to leadership, transformation, innovation and decision-making — and today forms the foundation for his advisory practice.
